Course Description

Announcing a trilogy of courses on auditor independence for both SEC and AICPA attest engagements by Jay Bornstein, a retired Partner who worked in the auditor independence group of Ernst & Young for 9 years. Jay is a repeat presenter and his sessions have proven to be informative, valuable and entertaining. Over 4,000 CPA's have already taken one or more of Jay's courses.

This 90 minute course will focus on the independence rules as they relate to personal financial and employment matters. The recent enforcement actions concerning personal relationships and excessive entertainment will be covered.

Auditor independence is clearly a high priority item for both the SEC and the PCAOB enforcement teams. These enforcement activities have impacted both the largest of CPA Firms and sole practitioners. On October 11, 2016 the SEC announced that in its most recent fiscal year it had brought a record number (868) of enforcement actions, including auditor independence. Don't become a statistic – know and follow the rules.

"Jay presents an extraordinary & insightful webinar. Great anecdotes too. It is obvious there is so much more involved in auditor independence than meets the eye, or that I suspect most of us ever knew. Though a 90 minute "summary", it nonetheless presents significant detail in a relaxed & thoughtful manner. I will definitely attend anything presented by Jay. Five stars! Highest rating!"

"Jay Bornstein presented this material (which I am already familiar with) and I learned some new perspectives. He was informative, comedic (which is difficult with Accounting material) , and very easy to understand. I look forward to more of his webinars!!!"

"Outstanding presentation. Small firms and sole practitioners frequently face independence issues. Clients are also friends and are in the same social and business networks. These issues exist even in non-SEC cases."

"Independence criteria and professional ethics utilizing professional judgement is significant. SEC and AICPA perspective was also informative as the internal controls are established within one own firm."
